Aviair/HeliSpirit Customer Service Officer – Kununurra Base

Aviair/HeliSpirit is seeking positive and confident team players who are motivated to provide an exemplary level of customer service representing several affiliated tourism companies in the East Kimberley. 

Based in the Aviair Head Office, this role will see you managing all aspects of the reservations experience for public passengers, visitors to the region, as well as tailoring unique tourism packages for clients interested in Aviair, HeliSpirit, Bungle Bungle Guided Tours and Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge products. 

You will also be responsible for providing operational support, including check-in and dispatch of flights from our Aviair Kununurra base, whilst also coordinating with remote bases to ensure that all flight networks operate efficiently and on time. 

Previous experience in aviation or tourism is preferred but not essential, as full training and ongoing support is provided to strong candidates who can demonstrate dedication and willingness to learn new skills. 

Successful applicants will possess high-level computer literacy and excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills. They will be highly organised, self-motivating, and be passionate about providing the best Kimberley experience to every client. 

Working hours are on a roster basis, comprise 80 hours per fortnight, include weekend shifts and some early starts. Successful applicants will be required to comply with Aviation Drug and Alcohol Management Policies and undertake a Criminal History Check.

The Role

Our rapidly expanding group of aviation and tourism businesses operate throughout the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia, and into the Northern Territory. We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join our Sales & Marketing team, bringing with them strong expertise and experience to implement sales activities in line with the overall business strategy.

Ideally, you will have a high level of commercial sales experience, a strong understanding of tourism distribution channels, understand best practices and performance reporting, demonstrated experience with sales channel growth, relationship management skills, excellence in copywriting and have strong attention to detail. Prior experience in the tourism industry is advantageous, but not essential.


Key responsibilities include: 

·         Maintain and build strong relationships with agents and trade partners.

·         Identify new sales opportunities and strategies to increase brand exposure and conversions.

·         Visit key domestic travel agents from both inter and intrastate.

·         Identify and attend trade or consumer shows that offer the best ROI for the Group.

·         Contribute to the formulation of sales strategies.

·         Identify and report on trends with the trade and consumer markets.

·         Report on sales and product performance including measuring ROI.

·         Coordinate and host agent familiarisation tours.

·         Manage local agent performance, assisting with visits and product training where required.

·         Internal customer service and sales training.

·         Represent the company at business networking events.

·         Manage Tourism Accreditation process.

·         Work with the Marketing Team on the design and distribution of sales collateral.


Travel is an essential part of this role as it will include visits to both trade and consumer shows, domestic travel agents and it may include international trade visits where necessary. Travel to our iconic bases across the Kimberley will also be required. Your main office will be situated in Kununurra, Western Australia.

Aviair and HeliSpirit are seeking a motivated and passionate person to fill the role of Group Quality Manager.  Reporting to our Head of Quality & Safety and working closely with our Group Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the continued development and management of our Quality Management Systems.  Aviation experience is preferred but not essential. The role will ideally be based in Broome however other locations may be considered for the right candidate.  Some travel will be required.

 Duties & Responsibilities 

The Group Quality Manager reports directly to the Head of Quality & Safety and is responsible for managing all aspects of the Aviair and HeliSpirit Quality Management Systems:

·         Responsible for the continued establishment and management of our Group Quality Management Systems;

·         Ensure the Managing Director and Head of Quality & Safety are kept properly informed on quality matters by providing feedback, including in the event of any reported discrepancy not being adequately addressed or if there is any unresolved disagreement over the nature of a discrepancy;

·         Prepare and implement the quality audit program, ensuring that applicable procedures and systems are audited at regular and regulatory required intervals;

·         Prepare post Audit Reports, including raising of Findings and Observations;

·         Review audit findings, causal factors and action (corrective and preventive) and working with Department Heads to understand and address them;

·         Conduct External Audits;

·         Participate in Third Party Audits and assist the Head of Quality & Safety in their co-ordination when required;

·         Monitor performance against key quality performance indicators;

·         Monitor closure of Findings raised and escalating them to the Head of Quality & Safety should they not be closed out in accordance with agreed time frames;

·         Investigate quality related Safety Reports;

·         Analyse work-package error data supplied by the CAM/Maintenance Planner to identify causal factors and include in re-currency training syllabus;

·         Encourage all personnel to adhere to our 'Just Culture' policy;

·         Update electronic records; and

·         Attend Safety Meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

To qualify as a Group Quality Manager, the applicant should have:

·         Extensive quality management experience (preferably in aviation but can also be in another demanding industry) and a demonstrated understanding of Quality Management Systems;

·         Knowledge of Safety Management System principles;

·         Knowledge and understanding of the regulations applicable to the Aviation industry or demonstrated experience in working within a highly regulated industry and ability to apply this in aviation;

·         Knowledge of aviation regulations and standards;

·         A formal qualification in quality management; 

·         At least 2 years’ experience in quality management system activities;

·         Demonstrated excellent written communications skills;

·         Analytical and problem-solving skills;

·         Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office;

·         Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail;

·         An understanding of risk management principles and techniques to support the QMS and SMS;

·         Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate confidently and positively with a wide range of people/cultural diversity;

·         Demonstrated ability to be firm in conviction, promote a “just culture” and advance an open and non-punitive atmosphere for reporting;

·         Experience, and preferably recognised qualifications, in aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors;

·         Ability to obtain an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card);

·         Preferably have attained a Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessing;

·         Preferably have Safety Management System experience;

·         Preferably have experience in risk management principles and techniques; and

·         Preferably proficient with Air Maestro.



Aviair pilot recruitment is ongoing and we encourage expressions of interest from suitably experienced pilots. Aviair's flying is a mixture of both VFR and IFR and is operated both single-pilot and multi-crew. Progression within the company and on to more complex aircraft types is performance based. All crew members will have a current medical, ASIC, first aid certificate, dangerous goods awareness certificate and light rigid vehicle licence prior to employment.

Aviair’s minimum pilot requirements are:

·                  Total Time: 600 hours

·                  IFR PIC on a plan: 125 hours (150 desirable)

·                  Night Time: 25 hours (50 desirable)
