GROUP SAFETY MANAGER (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY ADVISOR)

Aviair and HeliSpirit are leading aviation companies with their headquarters in Kununurra and other major bases in Adelaide, Broome and Karratha. Combining fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft, the two companies proudly provide charter, RPT and tourism services across the Kimberley and Pilbara. The broader Group also includes Freshwater East Kimberley Apartments, Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge and a range of ground touring products.

Due to the growth of our company, we are seeking a motivated and committed Group Safety Manager - Occupational Health & Safety Advisor who has extensive safety management experience, including in risk assessment, systems analysis and risk mitigation.  Reporting to the Managing Director and Head of Quality & Safety, you will be supported by the Safety Manager and work closely with all Department Heads.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly experienced safety professional with proven ability to juggle operational requirements, strategic priorities and client relationships. You will partner with all levels of the business to influence and drive the group safety culture.

The role is based in Broome.  An alternative location in Western Australia would be considered for the right applicant with flexible work conditions also possible.  The role will include some travel to all Group office locations.

It is essential that you have a strong understanding of safety management systems, preferably in an aviation environment.  Additionally, you will have the proven ability to positively engage and provide positive influence within the Group.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Ensure the Managing Director and Head of Quality & Safety are kept properly informed on key safety matters across the Group.

·        Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and programs to monitor environmental health and occupational health and safety and related legislation to ensure safe and healthy working conditions, and assist injured staff through the workers compensation and rehabilitation process.

·        A hands-on approach to the awareness of critical risks, incident reporting and investigations.

·        Establish and maintain a risk-based approach to safety management that identifies risks within the businesses and assures a proactive approach to risk analysis and mitigation.

·        Establish and maintain an effective hazard and incident reporting framework based on 'Just Culture' principles and personnel engagement.

·        Identify any ongoing safety training requirements.

·        Conduct and/or coordinate incident and accident investigations.

·        Provide leadership to and oversight of the Safety Manager and Base Safety Officers.

·        Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process and ensure that risks are captured in the Operational Risk Register.

·        Responsible for the continued establishment and management of the Operational Risk Register.

·        Review investigations conducted by other safety investigators to ensure the adequacy of the investigation, report and closure of findings in a timely manner.

·        Promote safety awareness and a positive safety culture by ensuring safety-related information (including company safety goals and objectives) is effectively communicated.

·        Develop, maintain and update all policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety.

·        Responsible for the continued establishment and management of the Safety Management System manual suite, including the Safety Management System Manual (SMSM), Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and Drug & Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP).

·        Promote safety compliance and continual improvement.

·        Maintain knowledge of related regulations and client standards.

·        Manage the operation of the Safety Management System, including identification of remedial and corrective actions and root cause analysis.

·        Liaise with CASA and ATSB regarding Safety Management System matters, including mandatory reporting requirements.

·        Monitor the industry for safety concerns that could affect the Group.

·        Manage, conduct and/or oversee safety department related internal and external audits, including preparing audit reports and raising and closing findings in a timely manner.

·        Participate in third party audits.

·        Oversight of safety related induction training packages.

·        Be approved as a CASA Part 145 Form 4 Holder.

·       Other duties as reasonably directed by the Manager Director and Head of Quality & Safety.

Qualifications & Experience:

·        Relevant qualification at a level of bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years relevant work experience in a similar role.

·        Safety management experience (preferably in aviation but can also be in another high-risk industry) and a demonstrated understanding of Safety Management Systems.

·        Significant aptitude in analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        A demonstrated understanding of risk management principles and techniques to support a proactive Safety Management System.

·        Demonstrated ability to be firm in conviction and promote a “Just Culture” in an open and non-punitive environment.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate in a confident and positive manner.

·        Demonstrated excellent written communication skills.

·        Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and preferably Air Maestro.

·        Manual authoring experience.

·        Qualify to be approved by CASA as a CASR Part 145 Form 4 holder.

·        Ability to obtain an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card).

CESSNA C208 / GA8 AIRVAN PILOTS - KUNUNURRA - SEASONAL

Aviair is a Multi-award winning regional airline, specialising in charter, regular public transport (RPT), and scenic air tour operations. Our head office is in Kununurra, and we have large operations in both Broome and Karratha, Western Australia.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified professional pilots who wish to be part of an exciting and dynamic company.

About the role

As a tourism pilot you can expect regular flying through the spectacular Kimberley region, including the world heritage listed Purnululu National Park and the remote Mitchell Falls and Kimberley Coast areas. You will be expected to embody Aviair’s twin principles of safety and service at all times.

In addition to your flying duties, you can expect to be exposed to a range of other duties including:

·       picking up and dropping off passengers;

·       cleaning of aircraft;

·       assisting the operations team as required;

·       assisting other pilots with pre- and post-flight duties;

·       general maintenance of the base.

This is a seasonal position based in Kununurra with the potential for full time work subject to performance and availability. In all cases the previous year’s seasonal pilots are extended priority when being considered for the next years seasonal work.

 

About you

In addition to meeting the minimum experience and qualifications, you will need to demonstrate that you have enthusiasm, energy, a high level of personal presentation, and have excellent people and communication skills. You will also have a positive attitude with the ability to be solution focussed in challenging situations.

·       CASA commercial pilot licence (A)

·       CASA class 1 aviation medical

·       1000 hours total experience

·       500 hours as pilot in command

·       25 hours night

·       Valid instrument rating

·       Valid dangerous goods acceptance certificate

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERS (LAME & AME) POSITIONS - BROOME & KUNUNURRA

Aviair is a leading aviation company with key bases located in Kununurra, Broome, and Karratha.  Aviair provides extensive charter, RPT and tourism services across the Kimberley and Pilbara with a fleet of approximately 30 aircraft. Aviair predominately maintains is own fleet which includes C510, B200, C208, PC12 and GA8 aircraft.

Aviair is seeking positive and safety focused licenced and non-licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAME’s & AME's) to join our Part 145 AMO team in Broome & Kununurra. B1 LICENCED AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (LAME)

Aviair is a leading aviation company with its head office in Kununurra and significant key bases in Broome and Karratha WA. Aviair provides charter, RPT and tourism services across the Kimberley and Pilbara. Aviair operate their own aircraft and manage a fleet which includes C510, B200, C208, PC12 and GA8 aircraft.

We are seeking a positive and safety focused B1 LAME to join our Part 145 AMO team in Broome. With a great work-life balance, this opportunity would suit someone looking for adventure and the lifestyle change that the Kimberley can provide!  There is plenty to do in your down time including camping, fishing, hiking and boating. There is also a strong family atmosphere in the community with great local schools, community and sports groups.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

- A CASR Part 66 B1 Aircraft Engineer Licence with a PT6A engine rating
- Computer literacy
- ASIC eligibility
- Relevant fleet experience
- 6 months relevant aircraft maintenance experience in the preceding 2 years.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include:

- Performing aircraft maintenance in accordance with the provisions of the aircraft approved maintenance data.
- Ensuring that work undertaken is carried out safely, in line with the best industry practices, with the most efficient and economical use of labour, materials and other resources.
- Ensuring that all worksheets and documents are signed as work is completed and ensuring a comprehensive hand-over is carried out as required.
- Liaising with Senior Base Engineer and CAM to ensure timely completion of maintenance and engineering activities and providing regular updates as time frames are revised.
- In conjunction with the Stores Co-Ordinator, ensuring all parts and materials are appropriately managed, airworthy and suitable for their fitment.
- Maintaining the work area in a clean and tidy state.
- Adhering to the Aviair Quality & Safety Policy
- Participating in the Safety Management System.
- Ensuring that Aviair policies, procedures and instructions are adhered to for all maintenance.
- Reporting all defects or faults identified during the course of aircraft and aeronautical product maintenance.
- Maintaining required authorisations, licences and approvals as required (including Aircraft Engineer Licence, ASIC and Airside Drivers Licence).
- Reporting any deviation from procedures to the Head of Quality & Safety and Head of Maintenance.
- Providing guidance and instruction to apprentices and unlicensed engineers as required.
- Maintaining currency with respect to all relevant documentation and the revision status of company manuals.
- Other duties as directed by the Senior Base Engineer.

PILOT RECRUITMENT

Aviair pilot recruitment is ongoing and we encourage expressions of interest from suitably experienced pilots. Aviair's flying is a mixture of both VFR and IFR and is operated both single-pilot and multi-crew. Progression within the company and on to more complex aircraft types is performance based. All crew members will have a current medical, ASIC, first aid certificate, dangerous goods awareness certificate and light rigid vehicle licence prior to employment.

Aviair’s minimum pilot requirements are:

·                  Total Time: 600 hours

·                  IFR PIC on a plan: 125 hours (150 desirable)

·                  Night Time: 25 hours (50 desirable)
