Aviair

Safety

We don’t compromise on safety in the air or on the ground and our focus on safety within our maintenance operations is just as important as in our flight operations

Every member of the Aviair team is committed to implementing, developing and improving strategies, management systems and processes to ensure that all our aviation activities are upheld to the highest levels of safety and quality standards of aircraft maintenance, flying operations, and associated customer service. Aviair is one of the very few general aviation operators to be approved by CASA for Regular Public Transport (RPT) services, which is supported by the company’s locally-based Part 145 maintenance facility.

By constantly striving to maintain and improve in all areas of safety and compliance, we continue to be a nationally respected provider of aviation services.

Our safety focus benefits every one of our customers, including remote indigenous communities, cattle stations, visiting international and domestic tourists, state and federal government agencies, and corporate clients - both big and small from international heavyweights to the newest exploration ventures in Northern Australia.

Cornerstones of Aviair’s capability to ensure your safety include the following:

  • Operating a modern, fully air-conditioned fleet, fitted with an integrated and comprehensive suite of pilot navigational aids and tracking systems.
  • CASA approval to operate Low Capacity Regular Public Transport Operations throughout Australia.
  • CASA Approved CAR217 Check and Training Organisation ensuring that the highest pilot training standards are achieved.
  • All aircraft are maintained in-house to the highest possible standard through our Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation and Part 42 Approved Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation. Both of these are overseen by the Quality Manager who conducts regular internal audits ensuring the organisation keeps pace with industry best practise.
  • CASA and corporate client approved Safety Management System, which has been in operation for a number of years and utilises best practise management systems for the reporting and management of all incidents and hazards.
  • A comprehensive internal audit program, focused on ensuring 'we do what we say we do'.
  • A just culture where every staff member is encouraged to report incidents that could affect your safety. Just Culture is a culture in which front-line operators and others are not punished for actions, omissions or decisions taken by them which are commensurate with their experience and training, but where gross negligence, willful violations and destructive acts are not tolerated.
  • A comprehensive Emergency Response Plan which enables us to prepare for a wide range of emergency situations that could occur in remote Northern Australia.
  • Real time satellite tracking of every aircraft.
  • Annual Human Factors training for every pilot/flight crew, engineering, operations and safety management staff.

BARS Registered Provider

As well as meeting government safety compliance requirements Aviair is also required and committed to meeting even higher safety standards mandated by a number of major global and domestic corporate clients.  Aviair recently achieved registration as an Aviation Service provider under the Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) specifically to meet the additional safety requirement of two of Australia’s leading resource companies.  The criteria used under the BAR Standard assessed Aviair against best industry practice under the audit and compliance framework provided by the Flight Safety Foundation - https://flightsafety.org/foundation/   The improvements achieved by meeting this BAR Standard has significant safety benefit and reduced risk for all Aviair clients/passengers.
