Bungle Bungle Wanderer + Helicopter

Experience Purnululu by air and on the ground to appreciate the vast rugged beauty of the Bungle Bungle Range. This tour includes either a thrilling 18 minute or a 30 minute helicopter flight.

Tour Overview

Start your day with a one hour scenic flight from Kununurra in an air-conditioned, high wing aeroplane flying over the Ord Irrigation Area, the Ord Top Dam wall, Lake Kununurra and the full expanse of Lake Argyle. View the Carr Boyd Ranges, Osmand Ranges, the Ord River and the Bow River.

Once you land in Purnululu National Park your guide will drive you closer to the Bungle Bungle Range. Walk amongst the famous eroded towers and black and orange banded beehive structures on the Domes Walk. Your guide will take you into Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs open up to form a space with awe inspiring natural acoustics.

Walk along the bed of Piccaninny Creek, which flows only in the monsoon waterfall season. The walk distance is about 3km. Learn about the Kimberley climate, the six seasons and unique flora and fauna so important to the traditional custodians of the land.

After the walk and before you fly back to Kununurra take an exhilarating helicopter flight of either 18 minutes or 30 minutes duration. The 30 minute helicopter flight includes the hidden red rock gorges of the northwest tip, Piccaninny Gorge from end to end and the unique beehive shaped dome formations. The 18 minute helicopter flight shows you Piccaninny Creek and the beehive shaped domes area.

Return via a scenic flight to Kununurra, on the way viewing the Argyle Diamond Mine where rare pink diamonds are mined.

How to avoid and reduce emissions whilst on holiday
  • Travel light – remember every extra kg that needs to be transported needs more fuel and generates more greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Buy souvenirs produced locally – buying a cheap imported knock-off of a traditional item as a souvenir does not support the local community and creates additional transport emissions.
