Air-conditioning and complimentary water

We offer the only air-conditioned tourism flights in the Kimberley – meaning your flight is ultra-comfortable even on those 40c days. Sitting in a cool aircraft with a cold bottle of water and a cool towlette really is the best way to round off your time spent exploring the Kimberley.  

Providing a cool, sandalwood-scented towlette

Did you know more than …ha of the farmland surrounding Kununurra is used to farm sandalwood? This innovative crop produces gorgeous-smelling oil from the heartwood of sandalwood trees. As an Aviair guest, you can smell it for yourself with one of our cool, scented towelette straight from Kununurra’s Mt Romance Factory. This cotton flannel is yours to enjoy on the flight.

Our pilots are a full bottle on the East Kimberley and love to tell you what they know about the region. Large windows

Peering over someone’s head to look out the window is no way to enjoy the scenery – that’s why each of our comfortable, fixed-wing Cessna 208 and CA8 Airvans are fitted with large windows. There really is no “bad seat” on an Aviair flight, because no matter where you sit, you’re guaranteed great views of the sweeping landscape below.

Pilot training

The lure of flying over some of the world’s most spectacular sites each day at work makes East Kimberley pilot positions a competitive field. Our fully qualified pilots come from all around Australia to live and work in the East Kimberley for its wonderful lifestyle and incredible flying experience. Of all spots to depart for scenic flights, Kununurra is the best. The competitive nature of the job means we can choose the very best pilots with at least 700 hours of flight time.  

Our own maintenance crew

Not only does Aviair have the newest aircraft in the Kimberley, we also have our own maintenance crew based on-site at Kununurra Airport. All maintenance is performed to our rigorous standards and that of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Our team knows the Aviair aircraft like the back of their hand and we are regularly audited by our own internal audit team, as well as numerous external auditors. In 2016, we gained Regular Public Transport accreditation which meant a range of new safety measures became a necessity. As the only tourism business in the region to have this qualification, it means we adhere to the same strict maintenance regulations, and pilot check and training, as any major airline.
