Aviair’s Karratha base is located at the Karratha airport and it is Aviair’s newest addition to the business.  This has grown Aviair’s operation into the Pilbara, as there was only 1 Cessna Caravan in use previously. Aviair is now taking over from Karratha Flying Services and has added two King Air aircraft to the Pilbara operation. The fleet now consists of Two BEECHCRAFT King Air B200 Twin Turbo Prop, Elite Igate Synthetic trainer for King Air B200 and a Cessna Caravan.

The flight Crew trained on the King Air B200 Aircraft are trained to the highest standard and go through extensive flight checks in the synthetic simulator on a regular basis. The B200 Aircraft are the perfect tool for conducting AD HOC and VIP charters flights in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions. The B200 offers many benefits to clients wishing to charter the aircraft with our experienced flight crew. Passengers will enjoy a warm welcome at reception before being seated to watch Aviair’s custom made safety briefing video over a warm tea or coffee. The pilot will then escort the passenger’s airside out to the most successful business aircraft in the world-renowned for its safety, comfort and versatility. The flight crew will hand out bottles of water before making sure everybody is comfortable in their spacious airline style seating.

The B200 aircraft is a pressurised twin turbo prop aircraft equipped with Raisbeck modification offering a quieter cabin than any aircraft in its category. It is also equipped with two of the most reliable engines in the world; Pratt and Whitney PT6 engine. Within minutes the aircraft will be airborne and off to your destination with cruising speed in the flight levels of up to 260 knots (480 k/hr). The B200 is a great tool in the Pilbara because of its versatility and high cruise speeds. It will keep up with most turbo prop airliners but the B200 also has the ability to land in short unsealed strips which are very common in Western Australia.

A typical week will see the pilots flying charters around the Pilbara and Kimberley. Commonly operating out of Karratha, Port Hedland, Onslow, Broome, Newman, Paraburdoo, Barrow Island and many of the Mines in the East Pilbara. Our pilots are on call 24/7, 7 days a week to ensure when the client wants to go they are airborne within the hour.

The Cessna caravan is also available for AD HOC charters but its main job is servicing the remote communities of the east Pilbara from Wednesday through to Friday every week.
The Cessna Caravan is the land cruiser of the sky, a great workhorse with its spacious cabin and cargo pods ideal for Mail, freight, and medical supplies.  Our Cessna Caravans are equipped with APE STOL kit, which is a modification for short take off and landing performance. It also has the reliable Pratt and Whitney PT6 engine.

The pilots on the RASS (Remote Area Support Service) will be typically challenged with high temperatures in the wet seasons with large thunderstorms to divert around. The main roads to some of the communities are flooded so people really count on the service that Aviair provides to get people home and to connect the other communities with supplies.

Currently, at the Karratha base, we have Two Full-Time King Air B200 Pilots that are also trained on the Cessna Caravan and one Full-time Cessna Caravan Pilot.
