The First-Timers Guide to Kimberley Air Tours

The First-Timers Guide to Kimberley Air Tours

If you’re chasing a sense of adventure and excitement, flying over and to the Kimberley’s top landmarks is the way to do it. Of all Kimberley tours, flying allows you to see sweeping views of the region’s top sights – from flowing waterfalls, the Kimberley coastline and cattle country to deep gorges and hot springs.

Where can I go?

It depends on which tour you choose – but no matter the tour, you’re guaranteed a good time. From the Kununurra right down to Purnululu National Park, the region is awash with incredible sights. Our three major Kimberley air services for tourism fly guests to incredible the Purnululu National Park, Mitchell Falls, and Argyle Diamond Mine. Some of the tours also allow you to add on a cruise of the Ord River in Kununurra or a cruise at Lake Argyle. The choice is yours; check out our brochure for more information.

How do I choose a flight?

It’s best to think about a few key things when selecting Kimberley tours. Consider what you want to see, the time you have, how much you want to spend, and whether you would like to get out and explore, stay overnight, or take a helicopter ride. If you’re pressed for time, a two-hour flight over Purnululu and its gorgeous scenery will not disappoint. If you have a day to spare, take in the view by flying to the park and hiking through Cathedral Gorge, Echidna Chasm and Piccaninny Creek. The Kimberley coast and Mitchell Falls is an incredible spot to visit, with the coastline stretching across the north of WA. If you’re feeling adventurous, hike and swim at Mitchell Falls or take a tour of Argyle Diamond Mine – the choice is yours.

What will we see?

You’ll see the Kimberley’s gems from the air, and be surrounded by stunning landscape as far as the eye can see. Masses of water at Lake Argyle and the Ord River, prime farmland and a fascinating irrigation scheme near Kununurra, incredible rock formations and ranges at Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges, the world heritage listed Purnululu National Park, and much, much more await.

What will happen?

The morning of your tour will kick off with a complimentary transfer courtesy of your pilot, who will pick you up from your accommodation and transport you to the air-conditioned Aviair terminal. At the terminal, your pilot will tell you about the trip ahead and point out your flight path on a map. From there you’ll receive a complimentary bottle of water and head onto the tarmac for a safety brief. Then it’s time to buckle up and take off – letting the adventure begin! At the end of the tour, you receive a cold cotton refresher towel scented with locally-made Ord Valley sandalwood. Bliss!

Why should we fly?

Did you know there aren’t many sealed roads in the Kimberley. Therefore taking one or two Kimberley air tours will show you places you can’t drive into, and places you cant get to on the ground at all – even with a 4WD. You’ll also have a sweeping bird’s eye view of some of the most incredible scenery in Australia – what’s not to love.

Who are the other travellers?

We cater for a range of ages, demographics and purposes – we welcome families, couples, solos, friends – everyone.
